Pan-European E-Bike Fulfillment
Publish Time:
Client: A premium electric bicycle brand shipping from China to the European market.
The Challenge: Selling large, high-value products containing lithium batteries across Europe presented immense complexity.
- Cross-Border Complexity: Europe is a fragmented market. The client needed a partner who could navigate the labyrinth of different countries, languages, carriers, and regulations.
- Post-Brexit UK Market: Shipping from an EU warehouse to the UK had become slow and complicated due to new customs and VAT requirements, creating a major barrier to serving one of their key markets.
- Dangerous Goods Handling: E-Bikes contain large lithium-ion batteries, which are classified as Dangerous Goods (DG) and require specialized certification and handling for both sea freight and final-mile delivery.
The ZBAO LOGISTICS Solution: We delivered a sophisticated, dual-hub strategy to conquer the European market.
- EU Hub for the Single Market: We established their primary fulfillment operation in our warehouse in the Netherlands. We managed the initial ocean freight from China, handled the complex DG declarations, and processed EU customs clearance, allowing seamless access to all 27 EU member states.
- Dedicated UK Fulfillment Hub: To solve the Brexit challenge, we shipped a separate portion of their inventory directly to our partner warehouse in the UK. This allowed us to manage UK customs and VAT compliance separately, guaranteeing fast, frictionless delivery for British customers.
- Optimized Carrier Network: We integrated with top European carriers like DPD and DHL Freight, selecting the best carrier for each specific destination country and ensuring full DG compliance for final-mile delivery.
The Results:
- Seamless Access to 28+ Countries: The client could confidently sell across the entire EU and UK from day one.
- Simplified Customs & VAT: Our strategy eliminated cross-border headaches for the client, ensuring full compliance.
- 3-5 Days Faster UK Delivery: The dedicated UK hub slashed delivery times to British customers compared to shipping from the EU.
